About Robberg
Established in 1979 the Robberg Group of Companies is an organisation dedicated to providing expertise in wholesale distribution, retail, technical and logistical services to the fishing industry, the hospitality industry and the general public.
All the companies are owner-run with Robberg Fine Foods having either a majority shareholding, or complete ownership.
Our Distribution Areas
The Robberg Group is situated in the Garden Route town of Plettenberg Bay, otherwise known to locals as “The Jewel of the Garden Route’. Selling a diverse range of frozen, chilled and grocery lines to the leisure, hospitality and food service industries between Garden Route and Port Elizabeth.
Although the main area of distribution is between Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, we also service clients in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The Robberg Group
The Robberg Group consists of three sub companies:
Robberg Fine Foods – Wholesale Distribution of fresh and frozen foods, seafoods, meat, chicken, veg and more.
The Store – Retail Suppliers of fresh and frozen foods, seafoods, meat, chicken, local wines, veg and more.
Robberg Properties – Property Development company.

Our Employment Philosophy
In respect to providing employment within the local community, our philosophy has always been to endeavor to provide permanent jobs. Due to the seasonal nature of line fishing this has been a mammoth task.
Even so, we have enjoyed an exceptionally good record of labor relations with very low staff turnover over the last few years. In fact many of our original staff are still with us today. This has been due to a good working relationship between management and staff in which ability and performance are the criteria for advancement.
In-house training has provided us with an excellent management team who have been promoted through the ranks. Our style of management is one of engendering team spirit in which all workers are valuable participants.
We are proud to note that our minimum wage currently exceeds our SETA requirements for similar position and companies.
We work a 45 hour week and our permanent staff are part of a provident fund.
